-If you weren't an accomplished and talented musician what would you be doing right now?

I would probably be trying to get a job as some kind of writer or maybe trying my luck in a record label.

-Which tour has been your favorite so far? (Gemma Hayes, Nada Surf/The People, Ed Harcourt, Jason Mraz and Liz Phair etc...)

Me and Ed had a fun and hectic tour together, befriending the People was a pleasure, opening the bigger venues for Phair and Mraz was a ball, but to me the biggest thrill was to open for Elvis Costello in Canada last summer. I am a long time fan so borrowing his audience was fantastic.

-Touring around must be hectic. Do you get enough sleep and rest while touring?

Not always, but I sleep easily so I usually catch up on sleep and rest while driving to the next show. However, my neck is not alway that comfortable after these naps.

-While touring you've visited many cities. Which cities are you favorite and why?

I love San Francisco. I guess I did even before I came there for the first time a year ago. Much thanks to my love for the Hitchcock film "Vertigo", which is set in SF. It's a beautiful place, the Golden Gate is overwhelming and though the city is big, it feels like a town. NYC is always great as well. Probably the city I've spent most nights in. Chicago, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, Arkadelphia, Austin...they're all great.

-What places have you not yet been to but would love to go on tour or just vacation.

Anywhere in Asia. Australia would be a fun place to tour and/or surf. Ireland is beautiful I hear. And Brazil. Dangerous, but tempting.

-If you could have lived in any time period or era what would it have been?

Beacuse I am facinated by some music and entertainment of the 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s, I would love to have lived to see what made all the greats do what they did. To live in NYC in either of these decades would be very interesting, if maybe not all that easy.

-When you're not making music what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy surfing, but find it hard to practice this home in Bergen. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, gathering anyone who's not busy just to hang out, catch a movie or just stay in and watch Norwegian Idol to have a laugh/cry.

-While growing up did you wish to be a famous musician?

I loved music so deeply that I really wished to master it by learning how to play and make music, and learning more and more about my instincts and my taste.

-It sounds like you have a wide taste in music. Was your family very musical?

Not particularly, but my mother would always play pop records at home and I was always ancouraged to follow my interest and enthusiasm.

-What was it like to be the youngest of 4?

I got a lot of attention, and was quite happy with that. When my older siblings got older and moved out, I also learned to appreciate my own company and be independent.

-Do you have any words of wisdom or tips for being a songwriter or guitarist to other people who admire your work?

Always continue to search for knowledge of your own taste in music, why you like some things and do not like others, and continue to try playing and writing. Dare to be individual and just play for people when you want to. And always search for more exciting music than what you did/heard yesterday. And for God's sak, do not follow any current trends, just play!

-Do you have any goals you wish to accomplish in America?

I just want to spread my music to as many as possible. My music is for everybody and I think it could please many Americans on many different levels. I just wanna keep playing for them!

(The following questions are a bit personal, please don't respond if you
don't want to.)

-Would you ever date a fan?

Like any person, any fan is different and individual. So I don't make rules for such hypothetical and potential scenarios. But I'll tell you this: dating a fan would be very scary.

-What qualities do you look for in a date?

A relaxing smile, wit and initiative.

-It seems you fancy blondes, example: Kirsten Dunst, Scarlett Johansson
(American Rhapsody is a great movie!), Nathalie Nordnes, Grace Kelly.  Any
Comments?

Well, the girls they're changing color of hair every day these days, so I guess I am confused and seek comfort and safety in focusing on one shade...!? I do see a pattern in my behaviour and the above list. By now they have all moved on, and maybe I should too?
